Marina Zispin releases haunting double single “The Tudors / The Bells”

Marina Zispin, the duo of Bianca Scout and Martyn Reid, shares two new tracks via Scenic Route Records.

Marina Zispin—the spectral synth-pop duo of multi-faceted artist Bianca Scout and Martyn Reid—has been casting a haunting spell over Newcastle and London since 2018. Last year, they caught our attention with “Surprise Party,” and their Life And Death: The Five Chandeliers Of The Funereal Exorcisms EP. Their music, a dreamlike fusion of fantasy and reality, is a twilight world where the sacred meets the everyday, weaving the mundane into otherworldly litanies. With each track, they create sonic spaces that feel like memories caught between worlds.

Their latest double A side, “The Tudors / The Bells,” pushes these boundaries further. “The Tudors” is a dark, immersive memento mori, evoking ancient executions, manipulated faith, and history’s haunting cycles. Scout’s lyrics and Reid’s production guide listeners through a forest of memory and melancholy.

“The Bells,” meanwhile, explores the struggle of re-entering life after isolation, capturing urgency amid neurological challenges. With references to the three death bells, it meditates on life’s cycles and transformation. Reid’s lead vocals blend with Scout‘s haunting harmonies and a field recording of Easter church bells, adding to its resonant depth.
