French collective L’Ordre recently highlighted a new band called Mohave via its Soundcloud profile. The enigmatic duo totally caught our attention with an atmospheric and low-tempo track: “Mirror Mirror”. Indeed, the song conveys a strong imagery without yet any lyrics. Moreover, it goes with an amazing video, that perfectly feeds the mysterious universe of the duo.
“Mirror Mirror” could be described as a smooth trap tunes, even if the whole atmosphere of the track remains quite obscure. A synthetic loop, that varies throughout the track, is accompanied and rythmed by some delicate and obsessive sounds that seem to be water drops. The artistic process reminds us the works of the Frenchy artist Fhin or Sylvan Esso and his 2014’s famous track “Coffee“.[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/257077253″ params=”color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]
The work that is achieved on Mohave‘s “Mirror Mirror” video is absolutely beautiful!
It was directed by Mohamed Chabane and filmed in the Pigale’s area of Paris, as you can recognize the Moulin Rouge. An unknown masked character walks in the vicinity of the Parisian cabaret and you don’t really understand what is happening. What is really amazing in this work is the effects used by the director: the obscure mix between the neon lights and the contours of the shapes strongly feeds the strange and puzzling universe that the duo has decided to create around its work.
The collective L’Ordre is also famous for promoting the music of other acts like Else and Vanderway.
