We’ve been keeping a close eye on Pearly Drops ever since their 2020 debut Call For Help, a release that introduced their hazy, emotionally rich take on alt-pop. Since then, the Finnish duo (Sandra Tervonen and Juuso Malin—have) continued to build a world that feels as immersive as it is intimate, where music, visuals, and storytelling all blur together. Their 2025 album The Voices Are Coming Back marked a new chapter in that journey, and earned a spot on our list of the most notable projects of 2025, deepening their cinematic sound and surreal themes. Now, they’re opening the door to that universe once again with the first taster of an upcoming expanded version of the record.
Their latest single, “Heaven,” is built on shimmering synths, soft, close-to-the-ear vocals, and a glowing late-night atmosphere. The song continues the story where The Voices Are Coming Back left off, but its softer sound also differs slightly from the rest of the album, making it a perfect transition into a new era. There’s something quietly haunting in the way it explores emotional mirroring, distance, and desire (“You can run to me / And run from me / All you like”), as if love itself becomes both refuge and illusion. The track also comes with a video, of which the band stated: “The visualiser was inspired by late-’80s cinematic music videos and the lo-fi karaoke vids commonly found in Finnish pubs. It depicts a gothic, haunted love story unfolding in the wintery forests of Finland.”
