Chicago-based duo Swellshark are going to release their debut album “In The Beginning” and even if the folk-pop and ukelele things rarely surprise us, they have succeeded in catching us with their latest track “Numb + Insensible”.
Swellshark are the duet of bandmates Shélan O’Keefe (vocals, guitar, & electric ukulele) and Henry Kellam (drums, bass, & beatboxing). What does make their recipe special? Well… Listen to the intro of their latest single “Numb + Insensible” and you will understand. The singer starts with “I’m tired of feeling nothing, of feeling alone” on a cheerful folk instrumental and that’s it. It’s like Robyn: I’m crying my heart out on a joyful production.
If you like that kind of music, you should give a stream to their debut LP ‘In The Beginning’ that will be out on May 12. According to the press release, you can expect songs “with topics ranging from existential musings to disloyal henchmen”. You can also listen to the previously released single “Ransom“.
