Synthpop act Jakuzi are passive spectators of their own life in “Yangın”

“Yangın” is taken from Jakuzi‘s upcoming album Hata Payı, out April 5 on City Slang.

Istanbul’s synthpop purveyors Jakuzi are readying the release of their sophomore album Hata Payı, two years after their impressive debut project Fantezi Müzik. After the lead single “Şüphe“, they’re now unveiling “Yangın” – read “Fire”. As always with the band, the track showcases lush and shimmering synths and an idiosyncratic dark vocal performance floating somewhere between nostalgia and melancholia. About “Yangın”, Jakuzi‘s singer Kutay Soyocak stated:

My life is in a process of development and I am trying to go somewhere I would like to be. As this process goes on, a personal defect of mine distracts my attention and all of a sudden, I start watching it and that stops me. I am getting passive.

This passivity is particularly palpable in the accompanying video which was directed by Serkan Kaptan and that you can watch below. In April, Jakuzi will play in Istanbul’s Salon to introduce their new album to their Turkish fans for the first time [Tickets there].
