Oklou's debut album, choke enough, is out February 7, 2025 via True Panther.

French producer, vocalist, and composer Marylou Mayniel—better known as Oklou—has detailed her highly anticipated debut album, choke enough, dropping in February 2025. Released via True Panther, a label celebrated for championing groundbreaking talent, the album boasts collaborations with Casey MQ, Danny L Harle, and A.G. Cook, along with guest features from Bladee and underscores.

“choke enough is a very intense album for me,” she stated. “It’s filled with directions, tentatives and irregularities, reflecting on my last years on this planet as my heart and conscience has really decentered from myself.”

So far, Oklou has treated us to “family and friends,” “obvious,” and “harvest sky.” Alongside the album announcement, she shared today the ethereal title track, “choke enough,” as well as her thoughts on the release: “This title track is important enough to have been chosen as the title track. Not sure whether it’s because it’s one of the oldest sounds of the record, or simply my favorite? Maybe it’s because it holds an important question that I’m trying to display within the entire album; what situations are we ready to put ourselves into in order to provoke sensations and drama, in order to feel alive.”

“forever” is the first single taken from Charli XCX‘s new project, currently titled How I’m Feeling Now and due out May 15.

A few months ago, Charli XCX told her fans that she was planning to release two albums in 2020. And then, Covid-19 put the whole world on hold… Nevertheless, a global pandemic is certainly not enough to prevent the British artist from changing the future of pop music. She recently announced during a ZOOM call with 1000 fans that she was working on a highly collaborative quarantine mixtape, currently named How I’m Feeling Now and produced by A.G. Cook and BJ Burton. By experience, we know that Charli is at her best on her mixtapes, so this got us pretty excited.

After a series of video teasers about the creation of the track in real-time, she has now dropped the first single, “forever.” With glitchy textures that reflect the chaos and distress the world is currently facing, the intimate ballad is actually a love letter dedicated to her current boyfriend, Huck Kwong. After Love in the Time of Cholera, here’s a very own version of Love in the Time of Coronavirus: a forward-thinking pop response to forced isolation and long-distance relationships.

“So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings” is taken from Caroline Polachek‘s album Pang, out on Perpetual Novice.

Earlier this year, Caroline Polachek made her post-Chairlift debut under her own name with Pang, an excellent solo record that was mainly produced by PC Music‘s alumnus Danny L Harle. One of the highlights of the album, “So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings,” has now been remixed by the London label mastermind, A.G. Cook. It’s actually not the first time that the two artists have linked up as Cook produced another track off the project, “Hey Big Eyes,” as well as “Tears,” her collaboration with Charli XCX featured on POP 2.

About this club-ready new version, Cook commented:

[su_quote]The idea was to capture the feeling of being at a Blue Hawaii show, one which constantly tests the limits of a traditional concert. It pushes towards an all out DJ party, but with tons of diva vocals and always with the focus always on having fun and cultivating a positive energy. The audio in the video is a mix of the album recording and live recordings from the saxophone and vocal mics during the release concert in Montreal.[/su_quote]

French electropop band <ep>Yelle are known for their funny and colourful video clips and their last one, “Moteur Action”, is no exception. Combining the original version of the track with the insane remix of PC Music‘s stars A.G. Cook and Sophie, the short but intense visuals are playful and sparkling, everything we love about them. The video was directed by Aleksandra Kingo and Dmitry Yermolayev. Watch below.
