Bibi Club's Amaro is out now via Secret City Records.

Montreal duo Bibi Club finally released their excellent new album Amaro via Secret City Records. Made up of Adèle Trottier-Rivard and Nicolas Basque, the pair continue to shape their own glowing, instinctive universe, one where grief and joy move side by side and music becomes a place to gather. Amaro feels expansive and alive, carried by standout tracks like “Amaro”, “Washing Machine”, and their latest single “George Sand”. It’s an album that dares to look into the dark while choosing, fiercely, to live anyway.

The new single “George Sand” captures that pulse perfectly. Inspired by the radical 19th century writer and her manifesto for the survival of the Fontainebleau forest, the song is an ode to life, to nature, to the plants and trees that steady us. As the band explains, “The writer George Sand was not only a strong, feminist and radical person, she was also a renowned botanist. This song is inspired by her manifesto for the survival of the Fontainebleau forest, an ode to life and nature, to the plants and trees that guide us. A song full of thirst for life, about the force of nature and the therapeutic benefits it provides.” Built around a driving bass line and 606 drum machine, the track gradually ignites, especially when Dimitri Milbrun’s fiery saxophone enters the frame. The sax’s freedom feels vital, almost untamed, breathing fresh air into the song and giving it even more life. “At the end of the song, the guitar and saxophone blend together to form a force that destroys everything in its path,” they add. In both the song and its visual, you can feel the mantra that runs through Amaro beating loud and clear: I want to love, I want to live. Life pushes forward, even in the face of loss.

“Washing Machine” is taken from Bibi Club’s third album, Amaro, out February 27.

Where do we go after the death of our child? It’s a question that lands heavily as you listen to Bibi Club’s new song, “Washing Machine.” Following up to “Amaro,” their new song lives in a strange, luminous space where grief and brightness intertwine, reshaping loss into something that breathes, whirls, and sways rather than staying frozen in place. You can feel the motion in the way the guitars leap and the keys throb, giving the song a pulse that feels alive, almost fleetingly joyful, without ever brushing aside the sorrow underneath.

That sense of spinning isn’t accidental. As the band explains, “This song is a homage to Tobie, who loved washing machines, the way they rush in and spin in every direction. It’s also a reflection on our experience as parents and the visceral bonds that connect us to our children. […] It evokes the short passage on Earth of a child who left a vivid, powerful mark on everyone who loved him.” It quietly reminds us that movement itself can be restorative. Sometimes the body finds its way forward before the heart is ready to follow.

Bibi Club is the duo formed by Adèle Trottier-Rivard and Nicolas Basque, who imagine their project as a kind of living-room dance floor, a place where loved ones gather to share energy and emotion. Their upcoming album, Amaro, pushes that emotional exploration even further, diving into darker inner landscapes while holding tightly to resilience and renewal. Moving between the visible and the unseen, the songs keep circling back to love, nature, and community as essential anchors.

Building on the world Bibi Club has shaped over the years, the record shifts from intimate spaces toward a more charged, mental dance floor where grief and vulnerability come into sharper focus. Shaped by recent losses, Amaro carries an urgent desire to feel, to connect, and to keep moving forward. Ultimately, it becomes a simple but powerful mantra: “I want to love, I want to live.”

Bibi Club's new album Amaro is out February 27 via Secret City Records.

Montreal duo Bibi Club, made up of Adèle Trottier-Rivard and Nicolas Basque, started out by turning their living room into a mini dance floor for their friends, and that spirit has stayed with them ever since. Over the past few years, they’ve grown into one of Quebec’s most exciting bands, with their debut Le soleil et la mer earning breakthrough awards and critical praise, and their follow-up Feu de garde landing them on the Polaris Music Prize shortlist. Onstage, they’re known for hypnotic, high-energy performances that have taken them everywhere from SXSW to festivals in Europe and Brazil.

Now, Bibi Club is back with big news: their third album Amaro arrives February 27 on Secret City Records. The record features special appearances from the amazing Helena Deland and Dimitri Milbrun. Written during a time of personal loss, Amaro explores heavy themes such as grief, resilience, and the will to keep moving forward, but always with the duo’s unique blend of avant-pop, luminous synths, and warm community spirit.

To kick things off, Bibi Club have just shared the album’s title track, “Amaro,” along with a mesmerizing new video. The duo describe the haunting song like this: “Amaro represents a legendary character, a feeling that permeates the length of their upcoming album of the same name. The thin line between death and life, grief and light, a force that keeps us alive. Amaro is an immortal figure between life and death, a place where we mourn. The song unfolds as an invitation to open up, to let loose, to dance, to push beyond oneself, to become greater than oneself, and to touch on fundamental aspects of humanity: grace, love, eternity.”
