Baltimore dream pop duo Beach House continue to roll out chapter after chapter their upcoming eighth studio album Once Twice Melody. Before listening to the full project next month – yeah we’re also very excited as it will probably be one of their best albums -, you can now hear the 5 new tracks of the Chapter 3, including the highlight “Masquerade”. Listen and watch the visualizer below + rediscover Chapter 1 and the Chapter 2.

Last month, Beach House made their come back by announcing a new double album – the first project they entirely produced themselves – and sharing the first four tracks. For Once Twice Melody, the Baltimore duo decided to separate the release in four different parts. Last night, they unveiled the second chapter, which features four new tracks: “Runaway,” “ESP,” “New Romance,” and “Over And Over.” Like for the previous chapter, it also comes with a great visualizer. We’re now halfway of the roll out and this already sounds pretty amazing.

Chapter Three is due out January 19, 2022.

Yesterday, Beach House made a great announcement: their eighth album, Once Twice Melody, is on the way and they’ll support it on tour. However, this time, the 18-track project will be revealed in four chapters (one EP a month till the full release). Once Twice Melody is also their first entirely self-produced album.

Today, they are sharing the first four tracks: “Once Twice Melody,” “Superstar,” “Pink Funeral,” and “Through Me.” And it’s already pretty amazing. Next chapter is out on December 8.

Until today, we had no idea about what Meow Wolf was. This psychedelic art collective, which is specialized in immersive experiences, opened a conceptual grocery store in Las Vegas back back in February. The exhibition includes original music from Brian Eno, Santigold and Beach House. The latter actually composed 30 minutes of new music just for Meow Wolf and they’ve just released a part of it today. This comes in the form of “Marin’s Dreams,” a 7-minute long Gregg Araki-esque coming-of-age film, directed by West and directly inspired by Omega Mart’s narrative. Here’s the story:

“Marin Dram, granddaughter of recently missing Omega Mart CEO Walter Dram, has disappeared. But her dreams were left behind, revealing portals, aliens, and bisexual angst caught in a mirror beside her bed. Like many teenage girls, Marin has a difficult relationship with her overbearing mother Cecelia Dram, newly minted Dramcorp CEO. But unlike her mother, Marin has supernatural abilities – and they’re calling her. She just wanted to be normal, but normal was not an option.”

First, no one can be objective, there’s no truth in music. Then, it can be mentally difficult for artists to accept these insights. We are music fans above all and we never want to hurt anyone. Our goal is only to discover new talents and to bring them to our readers’ ears. We know they don’t always have the time to listen to everything we scan and write about during the year so these lists are just recommendations of what they should first focus on. Nothing more.

We know it’s a shared subjective feeling: 2018 has been another great year for music. We got introduced to fascinating newcomers with strong concepts that prove that albums are certainly not dead yet. Some rising singer-songwriters confirmed their defining style while a few established artists successfully re-recorded their masterpiece or explored challenging new soundscapes. You can find below the 30 albums that made 2018 according to our staff and stay tuned for our usual 100 Tracks of the year list next week.

Beach House have just shared a new double-sided single. The first track, “Lose Your Smile”, is taken from their excellent last album “7“. The second one, “Alien”, is a brand new song which comes with a San Charoenchai-directed video. You can also order a limited edition 7 inch that was originally sold on their European tour via their Bandcamp page.

Baltimore dream pop duo Beach House have shared a video for “Drunk In LA”, a track taken from their excellent and adventurous new album “7“. The hallucinatory and trippy visuals were shot in Portugal and directed by Spacemen 3’s Sonic Boom and Nuno Jardim. It also comes with a short statement from the band:

[su_quote]While mixing the record with Alan Moulder in London, we were out having dinner and Pete mentioned an idea for a video where the viewer is always looking up from the ground. This became the ‘Drunk in LA’ video. When he sent it to us, we complimented and commented on the trippy, dreamlike nature of the video and he wrote that it was essentially just a day in his life. Last month, Beach House released a great album named “7“. They have now shared an Alistair Legrand-directed video for the single “Black Car” which follows a black car without driver in the empty streets of a city. Watch the black and white video below.
