A few weeks ago, TOPS‘s Marta Cikojevic made her solo debut as Marci with the track “Entertainment.” The artist is now back with a new single, “Immaterial Girl,” which precedes the release of her debut album. “I wanted to make people happy. I wanted to make people feel like they could dance even when there was negativity,” Cikojevic explains about the self-titled record. Crafted in collaboration with her bandmate David Carriere, Marci also features contributions from the likes of Mitch Davis, Rene Wilson, Austin Tufts (Braids) on drums, Chloé Soldevila (Anemone), Adam Byczkowski (Better Person) as well as TOPS‘ Jane Penny on backing vocals.

Montreal-based psych-pop band Anemone are readying the release of their debut album one hit after another. They have now unveiled a brand new track, the charming “Memory Lane”, as well as a Laura-Lynn Petrick-directed video. The visuals and song celebrate friendship and the eastern townships of Quebec. They both have this romantic, nostalgic and vernal aura that you can feel in the band’s other tracks. About this new release, Anemone‘s mastermind Chloé Soldevila detailed:

Montreal’s psyche dream pop band Anemone have finally announced the release of their debut album. “Beat My Distance” will feature the amazing “Daffodils” as well as their freshly revealed new single “Sunshine (Back To The Start)” and it comes with a pretty cool artwork painted by Leonie Dishaw. According to the band mastermind Chloé Soldevila, this new song is about overcoming the pattern of falling in love with someone who is unworthy, but that you still believed it could work. On FLAUNT where the track was premiered, she also added:

Montreal’s Anemone have just shared a video for their shimmering song “Daffodils” which oscillates between dream pop and psych-pop. The visuals were directed and shot in New Mexico by the band’s mastermind Chloé Soldevila with assistance from Zachary Irving. About this video, she detailed:

[su_quote]Wide and magical open spaces are so powerful to me. I couldn’t have imagined a better place to capture the song’s video. Driving into White Sands’ natural park was one of the most empowering experiences to us. We had so much fun walking and running endlessly with our eyes wide open, full of admiration. After a while we decided impulsively to set up our gear which we had in the van and we started to play. We felt so alone in the world, playing for the sky and suddenly tons of people enjoying the park started driving in to enjoy the performance… it was so special, until eventually the park security kindly kicked us out![/su_quote]

Anemone, the psyche-pop project headed by Montreal’s Chloé Soldevila, are back with a flowery new track named “Daffodils”. The hazy song unveils a delicate and refreshing hook, which spreads 50 shades of spring. Let’s be realistic, summer and flirtations are coming to an end and all the grey clouds are already back in our Belgian sky but this spleen-soaked tune will give us the courage to go through the winter or to wait until the release of their upcoming album.
