Francis Novotny‘s first single of 2019, “Blame”, is out on CloudKid.

One year after “The Wire“, Swedish singer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Francis Novotny is back with another electro-pop song that draws inspiration from relationship flaws. Singing about the efforts he made to save his couple, the artist combines bare introspections and nocturnal soundscapes in what he describes as a “musical journey”. Turning these hardships into a growing experience, he said of the track:

[su_quote]This is actually a really old song about a pretty dysfunctional relationship between two people, and how it’s important not to blame yourself for stupid things the other person has done; but also not blaming yourself for bad decisions that you made yourself.[/su_quote]

New single “The Wire” by singer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Francis Novotny is a reflection of his path into pop stardom.

New single “The Wire” by singer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Francis Novotny is a reflection of his path into pop stardom.

Released via Black Butter Records, the track is his way of telling his special someone that he is done with waiting for answers. As he sings “why you keep me hanging on the wire?”, he demands to his lover to give him what he wants. Sonically, “The Wire” is more atmospheric than his previous productions, taking a step into something more soulful. About the meaning behind the lyrics, Francis Novotny stated:

[su_quote]When a person leaves you hanging on without answers – and you know you should get out of it – but you keep winding back towards them.[/su_quote]

Every Wednesday on HighClouds, from now until death do us part, we publish the much-awaited and surprising playlists of our Brussels‘ friend and collaborator: Deer Du Bois.

With this cold and rainy weather, there is nothing better than music to warm us up! Hopefully, Deer Du Bois’ new playlist is here!

Written during a vacation under the L.A. sun, the new Benji Lewis song is a duo love-ballad on unreachable love in “Never Mine”. London-based artist Arlo deals with people breaking their promises in “Safe”.

[su_spacer]

On “Forget Forgive”, we feel the nightly vibes of Someone, while she wrote this very personal song during one night in Amsterdam. Like a moonlit chant, deep in the woods, NY band Loma brings us the hypnotizing “Black Willow”.

With young and emerging alt-pop star Noah De Leon, we discover the difficulties of connecting to the people closest to you, when you are struggling with your own identity on “Big Blue Eyes”. Berlin-based artist Fil Bo Riva is a bold artist with playful songwriting in his new single “Head Sonata (Love Control)”.

London-over-Gothenburg singer Francis Novotny amazes us with his newest track “Broken Arrow”, an empowering song mixing his angelic voice with warm Eastern rhythms. On “New Supplier”, Airplane Man are looking for a remedy to cure their heartbreak and finally find the light.

And with the Chicago songstress and mistress of pop Fee Lion, we go up into electric air on her buzzing and haunting track “On Me”!

I had a hard time narrowing down the tracks for this week’s playlist so enjoy the extras! The playlist, [Embrace], is seeping with emotion – from electronic to alt pop to jazzy hip-hop, you’ll be hard pressed to not find at least one track that piques your interest 😉

JINCE scours through hundreds of SoundCloud tracks every week to find the best new gems by artists that are flying under the radar.

Without further ado, here’re this week’s featured tracks from the [Embrace] playlist.

jsmn – “coogi sweater” (prod. by namesake.)

[su_spacer]
[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/312970006″ params=”color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]
[su_spacer]

I can’t believe I only just heard of jsmn, but I’m glad the universe brought me to her. She’s oozing with the same carefree spoken-word-ish as Noname—on “coogi sweater”, she floats across velvety production by Namesake., who is also an amazing musician. “coogi sweater” is the intro track to “a very sad happy birthday“, jsmn’s latest EP. Don’t sleep on the tracks on this EP!

Coast Modern – “Pockets Full of No”

[su_spacer]
[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/315236329″ params=”color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]
[su_spacer]

I’m always psyched for new Coast Modern tracks because these guys always bring their A-game when it comes to production and melody. They start it off with street sounds, then bring coins in, then that video game synth! Hit play and let this upbeat tune overcome you in the musical equivalent of being 10 and playing in an open fire hydrant on a hot-as-balls day.

TY SENOJ – “Flirt” (ft. Goldchain)

[su_spacer]
[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/311718393″ params=”color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]
[su_spacer]

Alright fine, I admit it – I was one of those old hip-hop heads shitting on Lil Yachty when he first popped but I’ve come a loooooong way since then. TY SENOJ gives off a similar playful, melodic vibe as Yachty – “Flirt” is a prime example of this newcomer’s penchant for crafting catchy songs with a solid groove to them. Don’t forget to check out Goldchain, the whiz behind the production on this track.

Bantug – “Just Like a Dream”

[su_spacer]
[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/315339958″ params=”color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]
[su_spacer]

“Just Like a Dream” is a hazy 80’s-influenced track off of Bantug’s new EP, “Blue”. This song makes me feel like I’m in the San Junipero episode of “Black Mirror”, but like, in a futuristic way. I really wish I had a red Jeep Wrangler that I could drive into a sunset right now 🙁

Goldmyth – Has To Be Better

[su_spacer]
[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/313663250″ params=”color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]
[su_spacer]

The ethereal intro to the track leads you into a harp-backed wash of electro sounds intertwined with Goldmyth‘s haunting vocals. I love how the track gradually builds up to the end – this attention to detail is definitely going to push Goldmyth very very far in the music game.

Another week of fresh tracks by breaking artists around the world — brought to you by JINCE. Check the full playlist below!

Every Wednesday on HighClouds, from now until death do us part, we publish the much-awaited and surprising playlists of our Brussels‘ friend and collaborator: Deer Du Bois.

Delicate love and hardcore emotions tiptoe next to each other this week with Deer Du Bois new playlist

This Week we go from experimental pop to shoegaze delight to introspectively deep! Check out the flirting and powerful tracks by Ama Lou on “Lost My Home” and Iiris with “Stranger”!

Get down with the sexy R&B-infused pop of newcomer Haides on “Need This” or get kissing on the soft-steaming “Still Feather” by Kan Wakan.

This week we also celebrated the release of “Darling of the Afterglow”, the second album by experimental song-goddess Lydia Ainsworth. We worship her here with the celestial “Afterglow”. A dash of late 80s wave-pop is revived on “Lost In The City” by G E N T S, a gentle flowing song with a synth-hook near the end that will get stuck in the back of your head for days.
