Loveshadow announce sophomore album, share mesmerizing “Last Room”

**“Last Room” is the opening track from Loveshadow‘s II, which will be released on 17 November by Dark Entries.**

The past and the present converge in Loveshadow‘s avant-garde DIY pop. Based in the Bay Area, the duo of Anya Prisk and Izaak Schlossman effortlessly navigate between sophisticated soul reminiscent of Sade and lush synth-pop, always infused with a touch of ethereal sensuality and groove. Following their debut album, one of our favourite releases from 2021, they have returned with the mesmerizing “Last Room,” the first single from their sophomore album, simply titled II.

Liima – Roger Waters (video)

[su_dropcap style=”simple”]S[/su_dropcap]ome weeks after the lead single “Amerika” and some days before the official release of their debut album “ii” on 4AD, electronica band Liima just shared a video for another track of the LP: “Roger Waters”. It was directed by Plastic Zoo.

As you will see, the video is a bit WTF, primitive, bloody and violent. It could be a teaser for a thriller or a horror movie. But by the way, what is the link with Roger Waters?

“You know that feeling when you switch on the TV late at night and catch the last few minutes of a film and you think, “wow, that was awful and made absolutely no sense!” but you still wanna watch the whole thing? Yeah, that….” – said the director Plastic Zoo

NEW VIDEO: Liima – Amerika

[su_dropcap style=”simple”]W[/su_dropcap]e discovered the Danish electro-pop band Liima some weeks ago and we are getting more and more curious to hear their debut LP “ii” which will be released on March 18th via 4AD. Their track “Amerika” which is, by the way, ranked N°10 in the HighClouds30 this week (+3), has now a Olivier Groulx-directed video.

The video is full of realistic images of suburban and common episodes of life, from selfies to dogs, and the rendition sounds at times sarcastic or embarrassing. It fits perfectly the dystopian side of the track.

On NPR, where the video premiered, the director of the video wrote:”Rasmus [Stolberg] and I kept going back to this idea that everybody’s anxious and that whatever we’re doing to distract ourselves from these anxieties is no longer working,” […] “That feeling of not being able to outrun it is what got us started. We knew early on that shooting it on iPhone was only way to go, it gave us great opportunities to experiment and play with what is probably the most ubiquitous camera.”

LUH – I&I

[su_dropcap style=”simple”]M[/su_dropcap]ute Records are known for putting great bright bands into their catalog and they have now added a new one called Luh who have released their first track under their name called “I&I” and it is one of the most exciting pieces of art that we have heard in a while, putting a lot of intensity in one single track. Imagine a pissed off Sigur Rós and there you have LUH

The track was produced by Tri-Angle artist Haxan Cloak who is mainly known for his electronic experimentations on his label and also for co-producing Björk last album “Vulnicura”. The band declared about this track :

Liima – Amerika

[su_dropcap style=”simple”]I[/su_dropcap]t is time for you to discover Liima, a new band drawn by 4AD and that will seduce you if you like the idea of a band mixing vocals, complex drums and electronic vibes. It reminds us Battles and Caribou, with a touch from the North. After a year of touring and composing in parallel of four week of residency in different European places, the band is now ready to release a debut album called “ii”. Following this announcement, here is “Amerika”, an impressive and strange first single that definitely caught us.

“Amerika” is a dreamlike travel, the research of a utopia that might never be reached. The song is powerful and augurs very beautiful things for the upcoming album.

The band is composed of Finnish percussionist Tatu Rönkkö plus Mads Brauer, Casper Clausen and Rasmus Stolberg of Danish act Efterklang. By the way, if you knew this band before, you will probably notice some elements from their work.

“ii” features songs written in Finland, Berlin, Istanbul and Madeira. Each city influenced the sounds, sometimes literally through field recording and sampling. Every residency ended with a live concert, performing the freshly written songs in front of an audience.
