I haven’t heard of Willco before, but his flip of William Singe‘s cover of “Love Yourself” will definitely put this Perth-based young producer on your radar. The track smoothly combines Singe‘s original R&aB infused cover with Willco‘s taste for the current future-inspired trends in electronic music. Hollow snaps accompany the vocals before escalating into a full-blown, future bass solo with whompy synths. The two styles alternate well, surprisingly!
It is interesting how a song can almost do a full circle in styles, by various remixes and covers. Grammy-Awarded Jack Ü‘s amazing single “Where are you now”, which originally features Justin Bieber, started as a stripped back piano ballad before being manipulated by Skrillex and Diplo and turned into one of the hottest dance tracks of the year.
In the cover version of Swedish trio Ember Island, the dance spirit fades away to give some room to sweetness and intimacy .
