Now, Sassy 009 has officially announced her long-awaited debut album, Dreamer+, arriving this winter. It’s a project that Lindgård has envisioned for years, evolving through countless shapes and ideas before settling into its final form. True to its name, Dreamer+ promises to be a fluid, immersive record that reflects her ever-shifting artistic world.

To mark the announcement, she’s also unveiled the album’s opening track, “Butterflies,” alongside a striking video directed by Maria Hilde. The song sets the tone for what’s to come: a heady mix of scorched breakbeats, the roar of a motorbike, and a sense of restless energy driving the record forward.

Norwegian artist Sunniva Lingård aka Sassy 009 has just announced the release of a new mixtape, which will feature the previously released singles “Blue Racecar” and “Here Comes The Weekend.”

“Heart Ego is the most ambitious project I’ve done so far in my career, yet the project I have had the most trouble defining. Framing it as a mixtape was like finding home. The actual structuring and understanding of my compositions is simply a result of how I think it should feel, and not necessarily in line with a structure someone else completely understands.” explained the Oslo-based artist.

Today, she also unveils a brand new single and video, “Mystery Boy.” Once again, ethereal techno, glitchy pop, industrial and future R&B textures collide with a very Nordic coolness. Watch the visuals and pre-order Heart Ego via Bandcamp below.

Like every December, we close a year of music with our traditional lists. After the Best Albums and Best EPs and Mixtapes, we’re happy to unveil the songs that made 2019 according to our team. Are these the best releases of the year ? Maybe yes, maybe no. But for sure, they represent what we have loved over the 12 months.

2019 is also the end of a decade and, even if the blog did not exist 10 years ago, we will try to share our favourite tracks of this era during the first quarter of 2020.

Following up on her comeback single “Thrasher“, Norway’s electronic producer Sunniva Lindgaard, better known as SASSY 009, recently unveiled “Maybe In The Summer”, another pulsating track taken for her upcoming sophomore EP. She has now shared a Kenneth Karlstad-directed video to go with the track and the final rendition looks simply amazing. The very cinematographic clip combines Lindgaard‘s love for ice hockey with a somehow dark and tense atmosphere worthy of a psychological thriller. About the visuals, she detailed:

[su_quote]My fascination for hockey in meeting with Kenneth Karlstad’s surrealistic, abnormal form of expression made this video possible. He managed to capture both the riddle aspect of my music, while also embracing the speed and tempo in the song. It really mirrors where I am with this project today, and it also helps me understand where I’m headed with it.[/su_quote]

Back in 2017, Oslo-based trio SASSY 009 burst on the alternative scene with Do You Mind, a 5-track EP where icy pop, techno, flute and industrial music were colliding. Last year, Teodora Georgijevic and Johanna Scheie Orellana announced on Instagram that they were leaving the band, opening a new era for Sunniva Lindgaard , now on her own. According to an interview to i-D in 2017, SASSY 009 was actually Sunni’s SoundCloud username some years ago.

About this new departure, Sunni explained:

[su_quote]I am allowing myself to explore different directions without making too many decisions on the way. That’s how I find peace in where I’m at in my life right now. My music is absolutely an extension of that.[/su_quote]

Today, SASSY 009 finally unveils her first track in solo, “Thrasher”. In a bit less than three minutes, the artist is experimenting with so many textures and genres, sounding like if JPEGMAFIA, Smerz and Death Grips founded a supergroup. Nothing has been announced yet, but we’re pretty sure there’s more music to come. In the meantime, enjoy this metallic and abrasive new track below.

Sunniva, Teodora and Johanna, the three Oslo-based girls of SASSY 009have pushed the boundaries of pop music in 2017. Their mix of organic and electronic music and the unexpected use of flute as well (their music was actually released before Björk‘s new album) were both refreshing and challenging. By the way, we named their track “Are You Leaving” as Thunderclap earlier this year. Yesterday, the trio unveiled the video of their debut track “Pretty Baby”, which was directed by bAyA.
