Puregold – Illuminati (feat. Nomad)
[su_dropcap style=”simple”]S[/su_dropcap]oundcloud and the beauty of a pure chance. Some days ago, we were lucky to meet Puregold, a 16-years-old girls quartet from Brighton. Their single “Illuminati” is a fusion of different genres. Indeed, the track, that was mixed by Sub Hero, starts with some RnB-soul vibes before growing in strength by turning into a synthetic refrain mixed with jazzy beats. The girls are also accompanied by Bristol-based MC Nomad, who is used to working with Bad Places Records.
Parisian future beats producer Fhin shares “Eh”
[su_dropcap style=”simple”]W[/su_dropcap]ith his “liquid, flips & love”, Parisian producer Fhin is one of the best representants of the French Touch version 2016. Please forget the loops of Daft Punk, St Germain or Alan Braxe and Fred Falke! The artist, who is an autodidact, plays several instruments and also sings on his own productions; a rare occurrence in the beats industry. His sonic universe easily switches from pop music to trip-hop but always with a touch of future beats, this new electronic trend that consists in mixing elements from house music, hip-hop, nu-soul and RNB. Fhin is actively preparing the release of his 6-track EP “A Crack In The Eyes”, that will be available on May 26. He just unveiled a third single called “Eh” and once again, the magic happens.
Yumi Zouma – Keep It Close To Me
[su_dropcap style=”simple”]Y[/su_dropcap]umi Zouma are going to release their debut LP “Yoncalla” via Cascine on May 27. The first single off the album, “Keep It Close To Me”, is a synth-pop song that takes some distance from the chillwave and dreamy side of the band: The bass is more present and subtly jumps, the hook and the chorus are more produced and punchy! It is a relevant lead single and it maybe announces a change in the creative process of the band from Christchurch.
Mick Jenkins – The Artful Dodger
[su_dropcap style=”simple”]J[/su_dropcap]ayson Jenkins, better known by his stage name Mick Jenkins, released some days ago an amazing new track called “The Artful Dodger”. It was produced by regular producers Kaytranada, who is definitely drawing attention this year, and THEMpeople, a Chicago-based rising circle of experimental producers.
Cruel Youth – Diamond Days
[su_dropcap style=”simple”]T[/su_dropcap]eddy Sinclair (known in the past as Natalia Kills before her X Factor scandal) recently started a new musical project under the name of Cruel Youth, with the collaboration of Willy Moon who is, by the way, her husband. After an interesting first single “Mr. Watson“, the duo is back with another track that follows the same recipe: a heavy dose of retro atmosphere with a pinch of modern soul à la Amy Winehouse. The rendition can only sound timeless, like the diamonds. It is therefore not by chance that this new single is named “Diamond Days”.
Weaves – Candy
[su_dropcap style=”simple”]F[/su_dropcap]or those who don’t know yet the wild Canadian quartet Weaves, it is time to update yourself before everything trembles! Because the least we can say is that the band, which describe its music as “bent pop”, is taking off! After the uplifting lead single “One More”, which had the energy of Blur‘s smash-hit “Song 2” but without the clumsy vibes, the band just unveiled another track from their upcoming self-titled debut LP, that will be out on June 17 via Kanine in the USA, Buzz for the Canada & Memphis Industries for the rest of the world. Discover “Candy” below!
RISING: ADRIAN DANIEL
[su_dropcap style=”simple”]A[/su_dropcap]drian Daniel is a person like you and me, the only difference being that he loves telling sonic stories and he never had another goal for which he has worked so hard and finally reach an achievement. Indeed, the artist from Brooklyn (NYC), that accepted to answer a few questions for us, just debuted his debut LP “Disillusions” 2 weeks ago via Billboard. The alt-soul and groovy project, that some people don’t hesitate to compare with The Weeknd or Frank Ocean‘s work, features 15 tracks and demonstrates, above all, his singing and songwriting skills.
