Burial has reemerged from the shadows with a brand-new double single, “Comafields” and “Imaginary Festival,” delivering nearly 23 minutes of haunting, atmospheric music. The excellent release landed online yesterday, just in time for Bandcamp Friday, and will also see a vinyl drop via Hyperdub around September 19.

Both tracks feel like spectral transmissions, the kind of immersive, otherworldly soundscapes that Burial fans like us love to sink into.

This marks his first solo release since February’s Dreamfear / Boy Sent From Above EP, though Burial hasn’t been entirely quiet. Last summer, he shared “Phoneglow,” and he also scored Harmony Korine’s surreal film Baby Invasion, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival before its wide release this May. While that score never received a standalone release, these two new tracks more than make up for the wait.
