South Africa-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Emile van Dango, that you might know as Yellow House, recently released a third single in anticipation to his debut EP. The track is named “Control“.
After a 2-year-long career as a folk musician, Yellow House has been experimenting and crafting his own music genre. He seems to have found his place where he can smartly mix indie soul, psychedelic and dream pop.
On his latest single, “Control”, the arrangements are nicely reminiscent of Panda Bear‘s work while keeping this charming home-made touch that is very much part of its appeal. It sounds like a deepening re-work of his previous track “Stray”, offering a lusher production and finding a way into an even-warmer direction. This soulful approach was minor in his dreamy and soaring debut track “Better Views”; these new shades open up interesting perspectives for his upcoming releases.
About this new single, the artist wrote:
When he has to describe his music project, the artist likes to talk about Vincent van Gogh’s famous painting of his Yellow House in Arles, a city in the South of France. As his music, this oxymoronic piece of art encapsulates both light and dark.
