dan a imagines what comes after collapse on “fades away”

“fades away” is taken from dan a's second EP, the regard of others.

dan a is an Anglo-Nigerian artist and self-taught multi-instrumentalist who’s shaped his own path from Marseille. Since his first release in June 2023, he’s been steadily building a sound that blends post-rock textures, psychedelic haze, shoegaze swells, and ambient atmospheres, when he is not hosting his monthly LYL Radio show, Kominternoir Stereo.

His new single, “fades away,” might be one of his boldest yet. Built on a breakbeat drum sample woven together with live percussion, it has both drive and weightlessness, like a song caught between urgency and dream. Lyrically, it digs into deep terrain: “At its core, fades away is a snapshot that captures my musings on late-stage capitalism, empire collapse, and societal complacency,” he explains. “I’m often thinking and reading about different modes of being, escapes and essentially what happens after the pillars fall and writing this song grew from these thoughts bouncing around my head. I also like big layered guitar sounds, so it was a fun opportunity to explore that I guess.”

dan a‘s second EP, the regard of others, is already available via Bandcamp.
