Jura is the artistic alias of composer and musician Ani Liv Kampe, a key voice emerging from Copenhagen’s boundary-pushing avant-pop scene. Her work blurs the lines between composition, storytelling, and atmosphere, often leaning into conceptual ideas that feel intimate and slightly otherworldly. With a background rooted in experimentation and collaboration, Jura‘s music feels less like a product and more like an unfolding world.
Her latest offering, “You Make A Fire, You Make A Camp”, is a nine-minute piece that acts more like a shared experience than a traditional single. Built as “a song in five chapters written for and performed by her vocal quintet,” it brings together an incredible lineup including CPH avant-pop luminaries ML Buch, Ydegirl, Clarissa Connelly, and Helene Norup Due. “Just as how friends might remember a shared memory differently, we’re looking at the same melody from five different POVs here,” she explained on her Instagram. “Perspective and temper vary.” The final rendition sounds sinuous, hazy, layered, and deeply human, with fragments of different voices weaving into one shared diary.
