Kathy Katouzi’s “BLEED!” is about accepting the messiness of being human

Kathy Katouzi’s "BLEED!" is out now.

Kathy Katouzi’s music transcends personal expression; it is rebellion, liberation, self-discovery distilled into sound. Katouzi, who is from Iran, a place where there are societal limitations on artistic expression — especially for women — found her voice in Toronto. “In my country, creativity was taken from women, not provided,” Katouzi states, a truth that fuels the unfiltered honesty of her art. Self-taught, without formal training, she carved out a fearless identity as a producer, modeling unconfined exploration of identity, emotion and sexuality.

A couple of days ago, Kathy Katouzi dropped “BLEED!,” a bold and visceral new single that dives head-first into the beauty of surrender. It confronts imperfection as it undulates with sonic intensity, maintaining a wild tension. Through a catchy melody and thunderous instrumentation, the battle between self-doubt and release unfolds. At its core, “BLEED!” is about embracing the messiness of being human—not resisting it, but fully feeling it.
