Michael Blume – Colors

Watch the new video for “Colors”, the latest release from the sensational Michael Blume. Blume burst on to the scene with his hugely popular track “Manufactured Love”. Although only releasing two tracks, he has accumulated a devout following and is already selling out gigs and being calmly compared to the likes of Frank Ocean. Which is quite something.

Blume has had an eventful and intriguing life. Born in New Jersey he flourished in school and went on to study at Yale University. It was whilst singing for an acapella group that he had an epiphany that music was his life and what he wanted to fill his life with. Blume seems adamant not to be pigeon holed or categorized and this is mirrored in his music as he stretches his music across genres and smatters his music from various influences.

Blume is inspired by jazz, hip hop, r&b and electronica and you can hear elements of all of these genres within his achingly smooth music. This type of chilled out, jazzy r&b is becoming more popular with the likes of Drake and D’Angelo leading the way. The artist does well to be awarded comparisons with these artists and is indeed of the same class. A colorful and Luca Repola-directed video was recently released. It is an invitation to love, with joy and diversity. Watch it below!

“I’m Not A Trend!” Michael Blume, on being gay

Michael Blume is “difficult to categorize but easily relatable” and it is exactly that which has drawn crowds of audiences to listen to his music. On top of this, he tackles popular sensitive issues, as an openly gay man he often sings about LBGTQ rights and expresses his opinions on materialism and society. Michael Blume reiterates the fact that he ‘is not a trend’ and this is perhaps that reasons people are gripped by his music but if he is not careful his music may become very trendy indeed.

Michael Blume’s debut EP is set to be released this July. Listen to “Colors” on Spotify, download it for free via Soundcloud and get the track on iTunes to support him!
