We’re always on the lookout for brand new artists, and mikey are exactly the kind of discovery that makes that search so rewarding. The Danish duo, made up of Maiken Kock Rask and Henrik Koefod Petersen, are already emerging as one more captivating name from the Danish alt pop scene. Their debut EP, first notes, will be released via Copenhagen imprint Caress Studios.
Their new single “wash away” is the second taster off of the EP. The track unfolds gently, layering delicate guitar lines with minimal rhythms and spacious, echo-laden vocals that draw you into its emotional core. As Maiken and Henrik reflect each other’s doubts and vulnerabilities, the song slowly intensifies, eventually opening up into a more distorted and textured finale. The duo describe the song as “a little glow in the dark for anyone in need “, and that feeling of quiet reassurance runs throughout. The track also comes with a video that you can watch below.
