Molina introduces you to “Mike”, an underdog who exists in us all
Molina‘s new song “Mike” is out on Tambourhinoceros.
The 25-year old Copenhagen-based producer and musician Rebecca Maria Molina, going simply by Molina, has just shared the follow up to her excellent song “Hey Kids“, which was also featuring Late Verlane. On her new synth-pop offering “Mike”, the artist depicts the portrait of an underdog, explores the concept of identity and wonders if this dude, Mike, exists in us all. And she does all of that with a left-field approach that is reminiscent of Kate Bush.
About the track and the visuals, Molina detailed:
The lyrics define “Mike” as an underdog — a person trapped in and weary of the neverending Treadmill of Life. To give the story another dimension I’ve created a video about a person liberating and standing up for himself. The opportunity to become the person you want to be is in my opinion the ultimate freedom. I hope that the tormented Mike and all the different emotions I associate with both song and video will make people relate personally with “Mike” and let them apply to it exactly the narrative that feels right for them.
