For nearly two decades, Travis Egedy, better known as Pictureplane, has been weaving his own strange and beautiful world across music, art, and fashion. From his early days in Denver to his influential years in Brooklyn and now Mexico City, he’s carved out a reputation as a fearless cultural experimenter. His paintings have been exhibited internationally, his Alien Body clothing line dives deep into the occult and symbology, and his music consistently pushes electronic sounds into new emotional territory. Whether touring with genre-bending acts or collaborating with icons like Lil Peep and HEALTH, Pictureplane has remained an underground force whose reach is anything but small.
This Halloween, he’s set to release his next full-length, Sex Distortion, via the excellent Music Website. The title nods to a lyric from El-P, and the record embraces a darkly theatrical spirit, macabre and sensual all at once. Built on a foundation of Italo synths, heavy low-end, and creeping drum machines, it was refined with the help of Ben Greenberg and Mike Birnbaum. The album follows his 2023 project Dopamine and continues his tradition of marrying sonic intensity with a slyly romantic edge.
Leading the way is the brand new single “Weeping Sky,” out now with a haunting video, that he made in collaboration with Chris Burden, one of Music Website co-founders. The throbbing track feels equal parts vampire hymn and twisted love song, its deep vocals drifting over a slow-motion trance pulse. Watch and pre-order via Bandcamp below.
