SY3 step into the spotlight with vibey debut single “Tell Me”

LA trio SY3 blend cinematic pop and late-night longing ahead of their debut EP, 梦游 Sleepwalker , out on March 25 via the amazing Music From Memory.

SY3 (pronounced “sigh”) is a new LA-based trio bringing a soft-focus, cinematic glow to pop. Made up of Chinese-American artists Kelly Guan, Alex Ho, and Phil Cho, the project began in 2023 after the three bonded over Hong Kong New Wave films, classic Cantonese pop, R&B, and melody-first dance music. Kelly, who also releases solo music as Jia Pet, has been putting out her own buoyant pop since 2022 and recently toured with Sasami. Meanwhile, multi-instrumentalists Ho (keys, sax) and Cho (guitar, bass) have a long creative history together, including Ho’s 2021 debut album Move Through It on Music From Memory. As SY3, they lean into atmosphere and emotion, crafting neon-lit songs that feel both intimate and widescreen.

Reminiscent of early Couch Prints and Erika de Casier‘s vibey downtempo, their lead single “Tell Me” sets the tone. It’s hazy, sensual and laidback, with a gentle pulse that lets Guan’s voice float front and center. The track introduces a debut EP that plays like a series of late-night snapshots, shaped by memory and place. The EP arrives digitally and on vinyl via Music From Memory on March 25, with sleeve art and design by Michael Willis.
