Ash Koosha – Mudafossil
Ashkan Kooshanejad is a futurist but comes from one of the most ancient countries in the world. It’s not surprising: as old as it is, the culture of Iran has always had a strong sense for the modern and this young man, now based in London, is sure making something new. A tireless experimenter, Ash Koosha treats sound with the curiosity of a scientist. Fiercely electronic but shaped by years of Persian and Western classical music theory, his work comes from thought but ends up being intensely physical, always split between chaos and structure. These premises hold perfectly for his sophomore album, “I AKA I”.
Ash Koosha – Ooh Uhh
Only a few days left before the release of the LP “I AKA I” by Ash Koosha on Ninja Tune. After “Mudafossil” and the more recent “Biutiful“, the Iranian producer just shared a third track off the LP: “Ooh Uhh”. As usual, Koosha processes and reprocesses sounds that he then pastes on a classical music background. “Ooh Uhh” is aquatic in a way but also hypnotic like the dance of some delicate small streams that would escape a mountaintop. A perfect track to welcome the Spring.
Ash Koosha – Biutiful
Iranian multi-instrumentalist Ashkan Kooshanejad, better known as Ash Koosha, will release his new album “I AKA I” via Ninja Tune on April 1. After the lead single “Mudafossil”, here is “Biutiful”, a spectral and volatile track that spreads beauty and emotions all over the place.
Empress Of – How Do You Do It (Ash Koosha Remix)
This is definitely the year of Empress Of since the release of “Me”, her debut album, last September. Her hit “How Do You Do It ?” is actually number 2 in our Highclouds 30 and it has been in our chart for already 7 weeks ! Iranian composer Ash Koosha is apparently also under the spell of Empress Of since he just made a remix of her track
