Lucas Köksal, an independent artist based in Windsor, Canada, caught our attention with his distinctive fusion of indie pop, funk, R&B, and electronic elements. As a singer-songwriter, Köksal creates introspective, heartfelt music inspired by his personal experiences, encouraging listeners to find connections to their own journeys. Köksal recently released his debut EP, Reflections in Parallel, an eight-song gateway into his contemplative world. The EP explores themes of isolation and the search for meaning through experimentation with analog recording techniques. One of its highlights, “evergreen,” chronicles longing and introspection, wrapped in metaphorical imagery.
About the creative process of the track, he stated: “This song ‘evergreen’ began on piano back in 2023. The original production leaned heavily into a shoegaze style, with layers of distorted guitar, and shifted focus away from the vocals. But as I developed my broader project, the song started to feel out of place. I decided it was best to rework the production with a clearer direction in mind. This overhaul helped bring the song into sharper focus, making it easier to get finish line. I’m really happy with how it turned out.”
