Over the past few months, Farao has been steadily unveiling a string of hypnotic singles: “Spiritual Garden,” “Waiting For You,” and “Dreamy Ride.” Each felt like a carefully crafted world of its own, hinting that something bigger was on the horizon. Now, that horizon has come into view: the Norwegian artist Kari Jahnsen (her real name) has announced her third studio album Magical Thinking, out November 14.
Rooted in the title and spirit of Joan Didion’s The Year of Magical Thinking, the record is a layered exploration of loss, longing, and hope. Across its eleven tracks, it lingers in the quiet space between denial and acceptance, tracing grief, resilience, and the rituals that carry us when clarity slips away. Recorded between Oslo and Berlin with longtime collaborator Ådne Meisfjord, Magical Thinking blends 90s R&B, 80s disco, and spiritual jazz into something atmospheric, ornate, and deeply personal.

Alongside the album news, Farao has also dropped her new single “Voice Continues,” made in collaboration with ambient legend Laraaji. It’s less of a conventional song and more of a meditative soundscape, built from zither, airy vocals, and shimmering synths. The whole thing drifts like a memory, tracing the echoes of maternal love as it flows through generations and dissolves into a haze that feels timeless.
About the track, Farao stated: “Working with Laraaji on ‘Voice Continues’ was a dream. His music radiates warmth and openness, and together we created a space where our sounds could breathe. Laraaji has an amazing way of turning sound into light, inviting you inward while still feeling expansive.”
