Archivist – Same High

With the supporting cast of notable talent in their full line up, the group Archivist, led by multi-instrumentalists Edward Begley and Rory Simmons have released “Same High” as a follow-up to their self-titled debut EP.

The group consists of different artists and instrumentalists with varying roots, and this reflects in the group’s music with a fusion of pop, indie flare, shimmering synths, and evocative falsetto vocals layered over slick production. Ed Begley, a guitarist in the group, says of the songs lyrics, that, “Same High is about leveling with someone and enjoying the present moment.”

To push the new EP, the Archivist collaborated with Max Pevsner – an avant-garde designer – to show an important interaction between their music and contemporary art. Ed explains of the art project, saying:

ostensibly seems digital, yet on closer inspection is totally analogue” and adds that it represent what their music stands for, saying “their mix of timeless vocals and jazz elements melded with modern, electronic production.
