Au/Ra shares her struggles as an introvert in new single “Outsiders”

The multicultural rising pop star Au/Ra is back with an introspective new single “Outsiders” where she shares her intimate feelings about being an outcast of this world.

The Antigua-based artist has reasons to feel as a foreigner almost everywhere: Born in Ibiza, raised in a small island, with different backgrounds and languages around her, it is understandable how she might feel a bit lost. Using it as a strength, the artist is able, smartly, to create pop tracks that everyone can relate to, as she experienced many different universal struggles. About the track, Au/Ra told us over email:

I’ve always kind of felt like an outsider, not just because of growing up in the middle of nowhere, but also because I’ve always just been a bit introverted. I wanted to make a song for people who don’t feel like they fit in, and just say, ‘It’s okay to be a bit weird. Whoever you are, you shouldn’t feel less powerful just because you don’t fit in with the typical in crowd.

Au/Ra will be playing a London show, in The Waiting Room on November 13. You can also follow her over Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
