When it comes to new artists the first thing we recommend is to choose very wisely their debut track, the one that will give the tone to what will come next, the one that will encourage or discourage people from listening more. The pressure is high for all the many artists out there creating new music. For Ibiza-born Antigua-raised artist Au/Ra, the pressure is gone since she has marked her career with the sparkling debut “Concrete Jungle”
You can feel in the production and the vocals that the main inspirations are taken from the fact that she was born and raised in islands. It sounds so dreamy, open to what might be beyond our own limits. The production is minimalistic but efficient, taking the pop vibes to a very melancholic level.[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/287368590″ params=”auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&visual=true” width=”100%” height=”450″ iframe=”true” /]
About the track, Au/Ra told us over an email:
“Concrete Jungle” was inspired by taking trips to big cities when I come from an island, it’s about human nature, how we’re all connected.
