NEWCOMER: Divo into mystery with Glasgow-based mystical producer SOONBE
Every Monday, we investigate like detectives in order to present you new talents that, in our opinion, deserve more coverage.
Hinds – Leave Me Alone
In a bit more than a year, a lot of things have changed in the Spanish forest. The band Deers had to become Hinds, because of the threat of a legal action from a band with a similar name, and the herd has been extended from 2 members to 4. What was sounding like a joke, or at least like an exercise without any seriousness, has turned into “Leave Me Alone”, the debut album from one of the most exciting garage band of these last months: Hinds. It is now out via Lucky Number/Mom & Pop.
Anderson .Paak – Come Down
By the end of the week, Anderson .Paak‘s new album “Malibu” will be available. We already know some songs from this 16-track new project, such as the excellent “Room In Here” with The Game and Sonyae Elise. The artist knows exactly how to raise the excitement. He just released “Come Down”, a banger that should get everyone to agree.
Mick Jenkins releases the free 2-track EP “Sip!”
[su_dropcap style=”simple”]M[/su_dropcap]ick Jenkins doesn’t need to be picked in any lists such as the BBC Sound Of. Indeed, that is so inescapable that this young Chicago artist shines in 2016 that is would be too easy to include him in such a list. While we wait for his debut album “[T]he [H]ealing [C]omponent” that should finally be available for later this year, here is “Sip!”, a 2-track EP that the rapper just released for free via his Soundcloud account.
Porches – Be Apart
[su_dropcap style=”simple”]I[/su_dropcap]t’s already been some weeks that Porches are charming our ears with their excellent track “Hour”. The song is taken from the upcoming LP “Pool”, which will be released on February 5, via Domino Records. And in order to make you wait, Aaron Maine and his band just released a new video for “Be Apart”, another single off the album.
Savages unveil a video for the breathtaking single “Adore”
[su_dropcap style=”simple”]A[/su_dropcap]fter “The Answer” and “T.I.W.Y.G.”, Savages prepare the release of their sophomore LP “Adore Life” with another great track. “Adore” is breathtaking and intense, but not as wild as what we heard before. It fits perfectly the Anders Malmberg-directed video that goes with it.
Sunflower Bean – Easier Said
[su_dropcap style=”simple”]I[/su_dropcap]n exactly one month, Brooklyn psych-rock band Sunflower Bean will release their debut album “Human Ceremony”. This LP, which was recorded in only 7 days, will be available on February 5 via Fat Possum. One month ago, they shared the punchy lead single “Wall Watcher”. Now here is another track from the album: “Easier Said” and the result is simply hypnotic.
Rae Sremmurd – By Chance (Prod. By Mike Will Made It)
[su_dropcap style=”simple”]2[/su_dropcap]015 was quite a good year for the hip-hop/trap duo Rae Sremmurd. Indeed, one year ago, they were releasing their debut album “SremmLife”, which notably features their two platinum singles “No Flex Zone” and “No Type”. Here is a Mike Will Made It-produced new track that might be taken from their upcoming new LP “SremmLife 2”, but also from Mike Will Made It‘s new mixtape: “Ransom 2”.
