Newcomer Tallsaint starts her career with the sarcastic “I’m A Woman (After All)”, where she mocks men that try to patronize her.

A mansplainer is a man who tries to explain the world with a condescending voice to women. In the track, Tallsaint takes the highroad and addresses the problem with sarcasm and sings to them: “I’m a woman after all, so tell me what I’m feeling”. There is something in her music that will talk to a lot of women out there, and men are forewarned. About the process of the song and meaning behind it, you can read Tallsaint‘s explanation below.

“I’m A Woman” is my little diamond beast in the rough, born out of true collaboration with my co-production partner in crime Josh. It’s basically a dance track. I’ve never worked with those sorts of textures and sounds before, and Josh really pushed me into exploring new sonic realms just by handing me over this file crammed with 909 drums and 90s sounding synths.

“It started out about being fed up of people second-guessing me, not just in music and situations related, but also in domestic environments.” – Tallsaint

I had a poem that I’d been working on around the same time that became the lyrics. Mainly written for a cathartic release, it started out about being fed up of people second-guessing me, not just in music and situations related, but also in domestic environments. If I looked a certain way, perhaps sans make-up, I was getting confused when people would assume the way I was feeling.

Dutch musician Annelotte De Graaf, aka Amber Arcades, shares the details of her upcoming sophomore album “European Heartbreak”, set for release on September 28 via Heavenly Recordings.

Alongside that announcement, the artist shared the video for “Simple Song”, the second part of a trilogy that started with “Goodnight Europe“. The video was directed by Elliott Arndt who decided with the musician about the story of romantic relationships, the passing time, the current situation in Europe, and how the three of them are actually intertwined. About the concept of the video and the meaning behing the song, Amber Arcades explained:

[su_quote]This music video forms part 2 of a trilogy which tells a modern European (love) story, touching on various thoughts and feelings that inspired my new record. Using the medium of film to tell this story ties it to one of the central ideas of the record, which is the essential nature of storytelling in understanding our lives. For me, part 1 focused very much on a feeling of isolation, being trapped in an external surrounding which feels anxious and numb at the same time. Part 2, the music video for “Simple Song”, translates these feelings into the dynamics of a romantic relationship.[/su_quote]

You can check the video by Amber Arcades and also the tracklist of “European Heartbreak” below.

If you take the current political state of the world, many bands have decided to release politically-charged songs. But no one does it kind of like RABBII.

In between heavy electronic synths, and a sentiment of oppression, the band decided to give the feeling of what it means to live as a woman in a male-dominated world. A feeling of being scared, persecuted, scrutinized by the entire population. “Afraid Of The Dark” follows the type of theme as their previous feminist single “All Men Must Die“. Singer Johanna from RABBII explained about the meaning and vibe they were looking for in the song:

[su_quote]I wanted to do a track that would just let you dream away, but I think your dream might be a nightmare. Think “Every step you take”, but from the woman’s perspective. I wanted the stabby 90’s synths to feel half dreamy, half paranoia.[/su_quote]

Parisian singer/songwriter Margaux Avril unveils her new single “Drifting” assisted by la creme de la creme of the French electronic scene.

Produced by Dennis Brown, the British half of Postaal, the rising electronic figure Fhin, and mastered by the infamous house producer Alex Gopher, the young Parisian has proven that she knows how to surround herself. The song floats in the waters of electronic sounds and pop, with a glimpse of melancholia. It has a sadness hidden, as she sings “I’m drifting from you” in the chorus. About the meaning of the song, Margaux Avril explained:

[su_quote]It is about the relationship you have with yourself that influences the other relationships in your life : with the ones you love, with passing time. By drifting from yourself you drift from what surrounds you. The way we navigate through life’s obstacles, choices we make. It talks about melancholy, nostalgia, and learning. The flow of a life that prevails, in which we let ourselves go and against which we sometimes fight, memories that we keep preciously or we need to let go.
[/su_quote]

“Drifting”, that you can listen below, is the perfect follow-up for Margaux Avril‘s song “Soon“.

After setting up a story with director Felix Aaron with their debut “Tokyo Run”, BLVTH x TAIIME continue to tell the story of a futuristic dystopian world in “Police”.

Their debut started with a world where the air outside is technically unbreathable and gangs supply the black market with oxygen. The story continues with men gambling money in fist fights in a black market ruled by women. The video fits the suffocating vibe of the song, where heavy electronic synths meet aggressive beats and abrassive vocals. Producer/vocalist BLVTH and production-duo TAIIME are ready to take the world by storm with their new aesthetics.

“Police” will be released April 20 via Majestic Casual Records and you can check the video exclusively on Highclouds below.

Following the release of 2017’s From Deewee – the Belgian duo’s first studio album in 12 years – Soulwax will release Essential, a new album featuring 12 original tracks inspired by the concept of the now infamous mix series, with each song being sequentially named from “Essential One” to “Essential Twelve”. About their Essential Mix, the electro-rock band of the Dewaele brothers stated:

[su_quote]When we were approached to make an Essential Mix for the BBC,” said the band, “we chose to do what every sane human being would do—we decided to lock ourselves into our studio for two weeks and make an hour of new music based around the word ‘essential,’ instead of preparing a mix of already existing music.[/su_quote]

The experimentalist brings out the slow motion vibe out of the original rendition, as she strips it down to its minimal electronic sounds. That’s why she decided to call her cover/remix the “dark” version of the perky single by Monáe. You can see below that she already validated the cover via a tweet.
