Los Angeles dream-pop duo Bouquet are back after a decade-long hiatus, ready to unveil their long-awaited album Spellbreaker. The project reunites the talents of Carolyn Pennypacker Riggs—a multidisciplinary artist and composer—and Max Foreman, a producer and head of music at Occidental College. Their ethereal sound, drifting somewhere between Broadcast and early Beach House, was on full display in their comeback single, “Hold On.”
Opening the upcoming album, their latest track, “Moon Was Made,” sets the tone for Spellbreaker with a tender meditation on distance, clarity, and longing. Built around vintage drum machines and shimmering analog textures, the song wraps Riggs’ layered vocals in soft pulses of rhythm and synth. Lyrically, it floats between vulnerability and resolve, reaching skyward in search of meaning—“turning to the stars for clarity.”
