Jenny Hval – Female Vampire

[su_dropcap style=”simple”]E[/su_dropcap]verybody’s favourite Norwegian with a bowl cut Jenny Hval is coming for blood. After last year’s mesmerizing “Apocalypse, girl“, Hval is ready to venture deeper into the forest of symbols gender and body politics live in with her new album “Blood Bitch”. The LP focuses on the most elemental of those symbols, menstruation, the red thread the album has been woven with. It’s a fictitious yet personal story populated by characters from ’70s exploitation and horror movies. Please meet the first of these shadowy figures in “Female Vampire”.

Alex Anwandter – Siempre es viernes en mi corazón

[su_dropcap style=”simple”]I[/su_dropcap]t’s a long petal of wine, sea and snow according to its most eminent poet but Chile has prosaic sides to it as well. Pop music, for example. Chile is a country of songwriters with an outrageous sense for melody and a knack for the contemporary and the political. Take Alex Anwandter. His “Siempre es viernes en mi corazón”, first single from his second solo album “Amiga”, is a state-of-the-art banger that doubles as an anthem for disempowered queers.

Lucian – Forever EP

Lucian Follow Sleeper

[su_dropcap style=”simple”]N[/su_dropcap]Y based producer Lucian has released his lusciously ludicrous EP – ‘Forever’. Lucian had been slyly dropping tracks on Soundcloud in the lead up to the release back in May. The shows off Lucian’s incredibly talented production skills and also his canny and clever choice of vocalists. Teaming up with some amazingly talented vocalists has given Forever a real depth and flavour.

sidizen-king-one-day

SiDizen King – One Day [Prod. by Confessions]

LA-based artist SiDizen King cements his place on many people’s summer mixtape with this hip-hop/deep house mashup “One Day”, that was produced by Confessions. It is an unusual mix which we love over here at Highclouds! Most artists merge between genres but this combination of summery tropical house topped with sugary smooth lyrics is a mixture which has been underexploited so far and one that SiDizen King combines seamlessly.

WASI Mama's Gonna Get You

[su_dropcap style=”simple”]T[/su_dropcap]hey’re back! WASI return with their first release since their stunning debut EP “Bleed Pop”. “Mama’s Gonna Get You” is a punky, poppy number which is hard not to like. Despite talking about frustrating issues that surround society WASI fill this song with an energetic and upbeat rhythm that will raise your spirits.

PHASES- Cooler (Shoe Scene Remix)

[su_dropcap style=”simple”]F[/su_dropcap]or some reason, people love remixing “Cooler” by PHASES on SoundCloud. Originally a synthy, the 80s influenced indie pop track, “Cooler” turns into the most chill sounding track with Shoe Scene‘s complete makeover of it.
