New York based multidisciplinary artist Hyd, the project of Hayden Dunham, is known for moving fluidly between music, art and performance. Long before launching the Hyd project, Dunham co created QT in 2014, the futuristic pop avatar behind the cult favorite “Hey QT”. After releasing their debut album Clearing in 2022, Hyd now returns with a new record titled Hold Onto Me Infinity, arriving May 22 via Cascine. Much of the album was developed while Dunham was doing research in Iceland, and it reflects a deeply personal period marked by loss, including the passing of their partner SOPHIE in 2021 and their brother in 2024.
To introduce the album, Hyd has also shared the first single, “Angel”, an irresistibly bouncy pop track with retro, sparkling touches, produced by Hudson Mohawke. Beneath its bright, dance ready energy lies a heartfelt story. In the song, Hyd reflects on the first time their father met SOPHIE and imagines her presence as something protective and spiritual. It is an emotional tribute wrapped in shimmering pop production, which feels both tender and uplifting. The track arrives alongside a video directed by Tourmaline, that you can watch below.
