Joanne Robertson is back with new music, announcing her forthcoming album Blurrr, due out this September on AD 93. A quietly influential figure in the UK’s experimental music scene, Robertson has collaborated with the likes of Dean Blunt, Mica Levi, and Elias Rønnenfelt, released a gorgeous solo album Blue Car in 2023, weaving her unmistakable voice through a world of enigmatic, artful sound. This latest project, created in between painting sessions and parenting, sees her teaming up with longtime friend and celebrated cellist and composer Oliver Coates, known for his film scores (Aftersun, The Stranger…) and collaborations with acts like Radiohead.

Blurrr‘s lead single, “Gown,” offers a haunting introduction to what’s ahead. Coates’ sweeping strings blend seamlessly with Robertson’s delicate acoustic guitar and soft, unguarded vocals. It creates a quietly powerful track that feels both grounded and ethereal. “Gown” carries a kind of emotional grace that lingers. It’s not showy, but it stays with you.
