Laura Groves is back. The Bradford-born, London-based singer-songwriter has recently announced her upcoming EP Yes, out in a few days. On the 4-track project, Groves continues to explore themes of human connection with striking sensitivity. Self-produced in London with contributions from Ben Reed, TJ Allen, Joviale, and Fabiana Palladino, Yes blends shimmering 80s pop, R&B, dance, and soulful fragments into Groves’ trademark hazy, atmospheric sound, a deconstructed pop record piecing together love and memory.

Following up on “Deep Blue,” the title track, “Yes,” is an uplifting slice of pop that radiates cautious optimism. “I wanted to capture the feeling of finding joy again after a long period of sadness, entering into the unknown against a backdrop of deep unrest and uncertainty,” Groves explains. Built on a foundation of drum machines, FM synths, and a beautifully affected piano line, the song swells with a gritty yet hopeful energy, making it a cathartic listen.
