MADGE‘s “Alice” is now out on 22 Twenty.
Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter and producer Madge has caught our attention some time ago with her single “Red James.” Today, the artist is back with a new dose of collages and sound eccentricity embodied in a new track: “Alice.” Opening with thriller movie-like effects, her creative patchwork wavers between a hip-hop beat, flutes and cats’ meows. In an industry that tends to produce and above all reproduce the same sounds over and over again, Madge sounds like a breath of fresh air. Of course, some of you will mention the influences of Grimes and Charli XCX here, but it would be ridiculously reductive to confine her post-pop universe to a simple comparison. In her glorious and bad-ass cacophony, we imagine that Madge has plenty more of furrows to dig and are impatient to see the gems she’s going to unearth.
