Maria Usbeck is keeping things moving. Born in Ecuador and now based in New York, the singer and producer has announced a new EP, Canciones De Amor, arriving September 18 via Cascine. The project features five songs and follows her 2025 album Naturaleza, which itself marked a creative return after what Usbeck described as “a forced, fake retirement that lasted more than a year.” This time, Usbeck turns her attention inward, exploring love from several angles and moving through lust, longing, anguish, obsession and, eventually, acceptance.
First single “Luz” offers a gentle way in. The track begins with a soft percussive pulse before slowly opening into jazz inflected textures, with soothing brass and flute drifting through the arrangement as Usbeck’s delicate vocals settle into the space between them. Warm, lush and dreamy, “Luz” plays like a guided meditation, gently pulling you inward into its restorative world. Support and watch the self directed visualizer below.
