Born from a chance meeting at Los Angeles venue Zebulon in early 2020, Paycheque is the project of Alison Goldfarb and Jackson MacIntosh, a duo drawn together by a shared affection for glossy pop, vintage synths, and carefully shaped melodies. What began as loose garage studio experiments during lockdown soon turned into something more vivid and fully formed. Their self titled debut album, Paycheque, arrives via Mansions And Millions, capturing a Los Angeles where glamour, uncertainty, ambition, and fragile romance all seem to shimmer under the same light.
Following debut single “Generic Actress”, their new single “Temporary Love” leans into that feeling of things slipping through your fingers. Built around jangly guitars, blocky rhythms, vocoder touches, flute, and soft background vocals from Jane Penny, the track feels bright on the surface while quietly circling a tender truth. As the band puts it, “This song is about embracing impermanence.” In Paycheque’s world, nostalgia is not just decoration, but a way of asking what remains when places, people, and feelings are always changing. The track also comes with a video, made by Goldfarb.
