Smerz feel socially awkward in new video “Have Fun”

Norwegian duo Smerz enjoy exploring their social awkwardness. Through their new video “Have Fun”, they show their discomfort while everyone seems to enjoy themselves.

In this new era, where we feel all obligated to have amazing lives to show via social media, the duo doesn’t care. There is something off not only about their latest videos but also with the music. Never there where we expect them, the duo composed of Henriette Motzfeldt and Catharina Stoltenberg set into the R&B genre with electronic slow beats and sultry vocals. About the inspiration for the video, Smerz stated:

“For us it’s about all those social situations where you can suddenly feel a bit distanced or forced. It’s staged to a classic Oslo Christmas prom pre-party, as this is maybe a situation where these dynamics, for some, become more present than usual. I think the song can reflect this ongoing stream of thoughts inside your head when you are trying to make yourself comfortable in a situation where you’re maybe not that comfortable. You are talking to yourself.

“Have Fun” is out now via XL Recordings. You can follow Smerz over Facebook and Instagram.
