“New Ears” is the title track from Son Step‘s self-released new EP, out October 8.
Philadelphia experimental psych-pop band Son Step introduce their new EP with title track “New Ears,” a softly trippy single which announces a sonic departure from their swirling album Fossililies (2019). On New Ears, the band skim off their nervous percussive layers and adopt instead a more meditative, stripped tone – like every meditation, the track ends up with a bell sound. This textured new single also marks their first collaboration with Ben Sloan, known for his experimentations for the likes of WHY?, Naytronix, and The National. The EP was inspired by themes such as systemic failure, modern challenges, healing and growth.
