⚡ Sundaes share one of the early bangers of 2018: “Love”

“Love” is the title track of Sundaes‘ upcoming sophomore EP.

“I want to be your pretty wife / Oh won’t you be my cosmic hero?”, Sundaes sing with refreshing candour at the start of “Love”, referencing the Car Seat Headrest‘s song “Cosmic Hero” from which it takes part of its melody. The song’s huge hook (“This is how you fuck me / I want you to love me”) takes a similar path, indulging in the kind of frankness that goes so well with the crunchy, guitar-heavy power pop that Sundaes are channelling in their new single, an infectious 90s indie song that could have been a crossover hit during MTV’s heyday.

The first taste of Sundaes upcoming sophomore EP, “Love” already represents an evolution of sorts for the Nashville act, as it drops The Strokes-like sound they boasted in “Alright” and instead embraces a legit 90s aesthetic which fits like a glove with the song’s lyrics and melody. It’s the sort of personal yet universally relatable rock sing-along that the world cannot (and should not) get enough of, a delightful chunk of catchy melodies and Weezer-y guitars that’s bound to be one of the early bangers of 2018.
