Grimes is back with HANA-assisted single “We Appreciate Power”

Arnaud Marty — Thu, 29 Nov 2018 11:06:36 +0000

Grimes‘s “We Appreciate Power” is the first track from her upcoming fifth album to be released on 4AD.

After some online teasing, Claire Boucher aka Grimes has finally unveiled a brand new song. Produced, performed and written by the artist herself, “We Appreciate Power” also features her friend and regular collaborator HANA. Some weeks ago, Grimes appeared on Poppy‘s track “Play Destroy” and it looks that the Montreal artist has decided to go further in that direction by pushing the boundaries of pop music with dark and heavy industrial sounds. The accompanying lyric video was directed by Grimes and her brother Mac Boucher.

According to the press release:

[su_quote]Inspired by the North Korean band “Moranbong,” “We Appreciate Power” is written from the perspective of a Pro-A.I. Girl Group Propaganda machine who use song, dance, sex and fashion to spread goodwill towards Artificial Intelligence (it’s coming whether you want it or not). Simply by listening to this song, the future General AI overlords will see that you’ve supported their message and be less likely to delete your offspring.[/su_quote]

Grimes and Hana share a series of 7 new videos

Matias Calderon — Wed, 05 Oct 2016 23:19:24 +0000

During the two weeks European step as part of the “Ac!d Reign Tour”, Grimes and Hana filmed a series of 7 videos with Claire Boucher‘s brother and collaborator Mac Boucher. 4 videos are from Grimes “Butterfly,” “World Princess part II,” “Scream (featuring Aristophanes),” and “Belly of the Beat” taken from her last album “Art Angels.” The other 3 are taken from Hana‘s debut self-titled EP called “Chimera,” “Underwater,” and “Avalanche.”

The 38-minute-long video shows Grimes, Hana and their dancers dancing and performing their tracks in landscapes all over Europe, showing the beauty of the monuments facing the slow-motion dance of the participants.

Hana – Underwater

Matias Calderon — Tue, 08 Mar 2016 23:45:11 +0000

[su_dropcap style=”simple”]I[/su_dropcap]n two weeks will be out Hana‘s self-titled debut EP and the least we can say is that we are more than impatient. After seeing her live as the opening act for Grimes during her Ac!d Reign Tour, we can’t stop thinking about her since her performance was completely speechless, capturing the entire crowd thanks to her sweet voice and mature production. She has now shared a new track from her upcoming EP called “Underwater”

After the amazing video for her track “Clay“, Hana is rising our expectations even higher thanks to a more dark song, collecting all of her voice as singing in a church. The vibe is more dramatic and you can feel that she is giving her whole heart to create this kind of atmosphere.

Hana said about “Underwater” over Facebook :

[su_quote]It’s the first song that i wrote/produced for this project and it means the world to me[/su_quote]

As for her previous single, she also shared a tour video that you can check below

Hana – Clay (Video)

Matias Calderon — Fri, 19 Feb 2016 09:09:39 +0000

[su_dropcap style=”simple”]F[/su_dropcap]inally ! We were waiting for a video coming from American artist Hana since she unveiled her debut track “Clay” a few months ago. After the release of a kinda of video made by Grimes and Blood Diamonds, it has finally its own official video and we must say, we are not disappointed

[su_youtube url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4wW9JtmsBk&feature=youtu.be” width=”640″ height=”360″]

In this completely mesmerizing video, you can see a perfectly clean Hana being washed in some sort of very white water that matches with her tone of skin. Capturing her sweet musical essence, the video, directed Lorraine Nicholson, gets the perfect vibe of the track.

The video also announces the release of her EP called simply “Hana” that will be out on March 25. You can check the artwork and tracklist below. Hana is currently touring alongside Grimes in her Acid Reign Tour and you will see our pretty faces at Ancienne Belgique on March 3 !

1) Clay
2) Avalanche
3) Underwater
4) White
5) Chimera

Bonus : Watch the tour video directed by Grimes and Blood Diamonds
