In 2019, Weyes Blood announced a trilogy of albums with inaugural album Titanic Rising, which was an observation of doom to come. On Friday, she will unveil the second installment, And In The Darkness, Hearts Aglow, and this time, we’re in the thick of it. “We’re in a fully functional shit show,” she explains about the context of the project, in which she tries to navigate our current chaotic and instable world.

Before dropping the full album, she’s unveiled a last single “God Turn Me Into A Flower,” which features Daniel Lopatin aka Oneohtrix Point Never on keyboards. Revisiting the myth of Narcissus, it’s an otherworldly ballad with nature sounds, bewitching vocals and an ambient-leaning finale. Listen and pre-order the album via Bandcamp below.

A few weeks ago, Σtella announced her signing on Sub Pop with a delightful and laidback single, “Charmed.” The Athens-based singer-songwriter is now detailing the release of her brand new album: Up and Away was made in collaboration with artist and producer Tom Calvert aka Redinho and is described “as if it was a rare gem from the ’60s found in a box of records in Athens.” This vintage vibe is definitely palpable in the title track, a tale of consuming romance driven by blistering blasts of bouzouki, out today with an amazing self-directed video, animated by YOKANIMA and George Konto.

Two years after The Break, Σtella returns with good news. The Greek artist is now signed to Sub Pop and she also has a new album on the way. Alongside this exciting announcement, she has unveiled a laidback new track, “Charmed,” of which she stated: “We strive to charm, and to be charmed. Mirroring each other’s desires like birds-of-paradise in a tropical forest, dancing wildly to impress a potential mate. But despite our best efforts, things don’t always go as planned…” The track was produced by Redinho from Swet Shop Boys. Listen/support below.

Baltimore dream pop duo Beach House continue to roll out chapter after chapter their upcoming eighth studio album Once Twice Melody. Before listening to the full project next month – yeah we’re also very excited as it will probably be one of their best albums -, you can now hear the 5 new tracks of the Chapter 3, including the highlight “Masquerade”. Last month, Beach House made their come back by announcing a new double album – the first project they entirely produced themselves – and sharing the first four tracks. For Once Twice Melody, the Baltimore duo decided to separate the release in four different parts. Last night, they unveiled the second chapter, which features four new tracks: “Runaway,” “ESP,” “New Romance,” and “Over And Over.” Like for the previous chapter, it also comes with a great visualizer. We’re now halfway of the roll out and this already sounds pretty amazing.

Chapter Three is due out January 19, 2022.

A few weeks ago, Frankie Cosmos announced their fourth album with a brand new single and video, “Windows“. Described as “a manifestation of the band’s collaborative spirit”, the record was recorded at Brooklyn’s Figure 8 Studios and engineered and co-produced by Gabe Wax. They’re now back with a new song, “Rings (On A Tree)”, which initially appeared in Haunted Items, a digital-only collection of stripped-down songs for the piano that was released earlier this year. The track was re-recorded in a full band configuration for the album.

About the new single, Greta Kline detailed:

[su_quote][It’s] a fictional tale of a breakup from the point of view of a mistress. After I wrote it I realized what it meant to me– even though I’ve never been a mistress, I related to the character from being in a relationship where my feelings weren’t prioritized. I originally wrote it just on piano and released the solo version that way. The band version really takes it somewhere else and felt very collaborative. I love everyone’s parts. Alex wrote the funky guitar part I play in the middle section, based on an idea Luke and Lauren verbalized.[/su_quote]

Last year, LOMA delighted us with their self-titled debut album which gave us the amazing singles “Black Willow” and “Relay Runner“. After some teasing on social media, they have now unveiled a new song, the hypnotic “Half Silences,” and an accompanying video. It was directed by the band (Emily Cross, Jonathan Meiburg, Dan Duszynski) and Sam Sanford. In the visuals, the trio is executing some dance moves surrounded by neons and fire, depicting an interesting contrast considering the languid atmosphere of the song. Watch below.

Following up on “Andromeda” and “Everyday,” Natalie Mering, better known as Weyes Blood, unveils “Movies,” an impressive single taken from her upcoming album Titanic Rising. Driven by waves of synth arpeggios and dramatic cellos, the uplifting song explores the sociological power of movies as well as the myths they can give birth to. About the track, she detailed:

Videotapes, DVD’s, streaming… Spielberg…all of it has thrust us into an endless loop of consumption. They provide formative experiences as children, standing larger than life before our fragile adolescent minds. I wanted to take a look into the emotionally manipulative powers of Movies – how have Movies succeeded in telling the myths of our time? How have they failed (miserably)? What is the consequent effect on a society of beings looking for themselves in the myths on the screen? It’s safe to say that they have failed us, but I can’t help it… I love Movies.[/su_quote]
