Tan Cologne, the New Mexico-based duo composed of Lauren Green and Marissa Macias, return with their hauntingly meditative new single “Infinity,” the latest glimpse into their upcoming third album Unknown Beyond.
With “Infinity,” the band plunges into themes of impermanence and connection beyond the physical world. “‘Infinity’ is about an endless drift into the infinite,” they explain. “The lyrics ‘All pass through known’ evoking comfort of knowing we all enter and leave, though the definitive dimension is the unknown beyond.” It’s a track that feels both grounded and otherworldly—laced with dreamy textures and a sense of spiritual openness that’s becoming a signature of Tan Cologne’s evolving sound.
The video for “Infinity,” filmed in Taos, New Mexico, adds another layer of mystery and introspection. Shot by the duo alongside friend Ricardo de Jesus Tejeda and horse Lupita, the short film follows a man in quiet communion with his surroundings, drifting through a dissolving timeline that ends where it began. “Our music video circles a day or dissolving timeline of a man on a walk and how he finds himself in a meditative drift with a horse, and then returns to the beginning and also the end,” the band shares. It’s a poetic visual to match the song’s vast emotional landscape.
“Infinity” continues to build anticipation for Unknown Beyond, a record born from solitude, loss, and the search for meaning in the unseen. Written and recorded in their home in Taos, the album unfolds like a spiritual journal—its sonic layers echoing with memories, visions, and quiet revelations. “We looked for signs and signals during the recording process,” the duo note. “If we saw a shooting star, imagined a fire burning on a hill, or remembered an old satellite dish in someone’s yard, we explored that lyrically.”
