After a year away from the stage, dream-pop band French for Rabbits returns in full band formation to unveil their latest track, “Gold and Blue,” a shimmering, introspective single that marks a new chapter for the group.
Written during a creatively fertile time just before the birth of vocalist Brooke Singer’s son, “Gold and Blue” reflects on change and the unseen threads that tie us to the future. Releasing just ahead of Matariki, the song’s swirling, psychedelic textures echo its themes of transformation and intuition.
The accompanying video, directed by longtime collaborator Martin Sagadin with cinematography by Bill Bycroft, captures the sense of timelessness and emotional flux that the song evokes. “We wanted to throw the listener through time and space, feel a gasp for breath as they tumble them through the present and past to moments of change, connection, and fluctuation,” says Singer.
