The best way to start 2026. With the year barely underway, Robyn has already given us something big to look forward to. The Swedish pop icon has announced Sexistential, her ninth studio album, due out on March 27. It follows her 2018 record Honey and marks the end of a long (too long) wait for new music. Robyn hardly needs an introduction: for over two decades, she’s been shaping forward-thinking pop that’s emotional, physical, and deeply human. Full disclosure: being objective here is difficult, as I’m a mega fan, but this announcement genuinely feels momentous.
To celebrate the news, Robyn has shared two new songs that sketch out the album’s emotional spectrum. “Talk To Me” is such a synth-pop bop: immediate, pulsating, and impossible not to move to. It also comes with an amazing Casper Sejersen-directed video. On the other end, “Sexistential,” the album’s title track, leans into more experimental electronic territory, reminiscent of tracks such as “Don’t tell me what to do”.
As the Swedish popstar puts it: “Exploring my sensual life is the same feeling as when I make a good song. It’s such a beautiful kind of sensitive vibration that takes so much work to keep afloat. I feel like the purpose of my life is to stay horny – it doesn’t even have to be about sex, but it’s feeling sensual and attracted to things that I enjoy, and not letting anything take over that.” The two tracks follow the previously released single “Dopamine,” which ended up on our Best Songs of 2024 list.
