Based in Nashville (and pronounced muh-ray), Eve Maret is an experimental composer and multi-instrumentalist who treats music as both a playground and a healing space. Her sound pulls from a surprising mix of influences, from kosmische textures to funk rhythms, and comes to life through modular and digital synths, vocoder, clarinet, bass, guitar, and even field recordings. The result? Music that can feel cinematic one moment and like space-age disco the next, always guided by curiosity, creativity, and a deep sense of intention.
Her new single “Break the Chain” offers a powerful glimpse into her upcoming album Diamond Cutter, set for release on April 17. The track is a fearless, synth-soaked piece about moving through grief rather than avoiding it, letting the feeling pass through instead of holding it in.
As Eve explains:
“I made the beat when my cat Shrimpy didn’t have much time left. He sat on my lap, purring while I worked. I made it for him, and it was the last time he would be a witness to my creativity while he was alive. I think that every loss I’ve experienced gives me space to process all the previous losses, big and small, personal and collective. When another being’s presence reveals to you the love you have within, that experience is never lost. I am forever changed by the love I’ve felt, and I can break the chain of suffering by giving myself love and appreciating everything around me, knowing that love is the only thing that never goes away.”
