“Mequetrefe” is taken from Arca‘s new album, KiCk i, out June 26 on XL Recordings.
In a few days, Arca will unveil her brand new album KiCk i, which features Björk, Rosalía, SOPHIE, and Shygirl. Following up to the tracks “Nonbinary” and “Time,” she has now unveiled the third single from the record, “Mequetrefe”. “The song ‘Mequetrefe’ invokes the tenderness behind expressing who you are without shame, and the confidence and bravery it requires, because expression of gender-nonconforming self-states in a public space can often result in static within your environment,” she explained.
